Prigozhin Will Challenge Putin Again, Says Belarus Opposition Leader - Bloomberg
- 00:00How come precaution was heading to Moscow? And now he's ended up in Belarus. What do you make of that? So yesterday was rather tense for democratic forces who are in exile and people in Belarus because a new weakness or for Putin's regime give us opportunity to a price again in Belarus. And actually it started this march of precaution started unexpectedly and unexpectedly. It was finished. But I'm really wondered how those democratic forces reacted on this event. The United Transitional Cabinet has created an operation headquarters where major groups and forces have joined. We worked on the common plan of actions. You know that our goal is to get rid of Russian troops, to dismantle Lukashenko regime and to ensure their transition of democracy. And we really were ready to act yesterday. But now we see that the situation went differently. And now one more threat to Belarus and independence rose because we have heard that the proportion can come to Belarus. Yes. And what do you make of that? Because you say you aspired to a democratic Belarus, but at this point you have look at Schenker promotion and the tactical nuclear weapons from Russia. Are you concerned about the future of your country at this point? Look, I'm concerned about the future of my country since 2020. Because then we face a dual crisis at the moment. Humanitarian crisis inside the country because repressions are continuing and intensifying and thousands of people are in prisons, hundreds of thousands had to flee bureaus. But also we face a threat to our way. Independency is because of nuclear weapon and presence of Russian forces in Belarus and now possible possible precautions. Arrival to our country, because I as far as I understand, precaution will likely not come alone. But he will come with his mercenaries. And for them, neither bill recently a should exist. So precaution might be involved in military training. Trade of arms, for example, is not excluded. That provision could be involved in another attack on Ukraine from Belarus territory. Who knows? But I also think that precaution, sorry is not over. He will. He will be trying to challenge Putin again. And I do not want Belarus to get involved in this. And of course, and I wonder, however, you mentioned, of course, Vladimir Pudding. They must have a deal in some ways. I know that you don't want to focus specifically on Lukashenko because you think he is the past and you are the future. But what do you think has been offered to Lukashenko here and what does it mean for Belarus? If he if he got something in exchange for hosting promotion? You know, first of all, I want to say that Lukashenko is not a peacemaker. You know, he now presented as mediator in this in this issue, but she was rather Putin's messenger. Lukashenko passed the message to a precaution, which allowed precaution to stop the march and save face somehow. I can say that Lukashenko saved Putin, but it doesn't make Lukashenko a hero. You know, in this situation, the problem is that the interests of Belarusians are not considered at all. Their sons don't want Russian troops and the special provision on our territory. It escalates Russian domestic conflict to our territory and it makes Belarus and horse pages of Russia. And it creates to a threat to their sense of serenity, if forgotten, comes to Belarus with his facts. It will present threat to our neighbors, to Poland, Lithuania, Latvia. And we insist that all Russian troops must leave our country. You know, in general, the whole situation showed that Putin is not almighty. He is not so powerful, has launched irreversible processes within Russian elites. And definitely the situation we can Putin, which also good for Belarus without Putin, Lukashenko will not survive. And you say the systems and the cracks in the system have been now shown by the episodes on the Saturday. I wonder, is it now the time to go for more sanctions on Lukashenko in Belarus? You know, some European leaders believe he's not as bad as Vladimir Puddings, so they give him some leeway. In your view, is that now the time to increase the pressure? I think that the West. I insist that the West must react strongly against the triple threat of Lukashenko. Putin in proportion, it's clear danger to regional security and the security of all Europe. And we can't let this chaos in Russia spread to its neighbors. And we can't let Lukashenko threatens Europe with a nuclear weapon. No one knows what rule precautions will play in the future. On the other hand, the West should stop pretending that Lukashenko is a president. And actually, in the video before our interview. Again, you call Lukashenko president. He is not his criminal who seized power in our country. So ask us to support democratic forces in our fight for freedom and independence. And of course, Franco's regime has to be sanctioned as strong as possible. It deprives him or for sources, it deprives him of legitimacy. It deprives him the understanding that he you know, he's unpunished because he feels impunity at the moment for a most yell ready. There was no sanctions against Lukashenko regime and eat the disorient people. You know, they really want to see support from the West. We need energy to continue our fight. And when we see that no strong reaction from the West, you know, people lose hope. I realize that dismantle the regime in Belarus is due to or Belarus and themselves. But we can't do this alone. And the dictatorship in Belarus is a threat not only to Belarus, since who, of course, as you saw this regime, but it's also a threat to all our neighbors and to the corner of the west.
